Harrington Homes & Help to Buy
At Harrington Homes, we understand that buying your first home can be an exciting, yet daunting process. That is why we aim to make buying your home as simple as possible by supporting you with your first buying experience. As an approved ‘Help to Buy’ developer, this scheme is available to use when purchasing your home from Harrington Homes (subject to qualification criteria).
The current government scheme is open to all homebuyers until 31st March 2021, whereby you must complete on your new home property purchase by 31st March 2021.
If you qualify and have a 5% deposit, Help to Buy enables you to take out just a 75% mortgage with the help of a Shared Equity Loan from the Government of up to 20% of the value of the property.
Separately, the government’s new Help to Buy scheme, which will replace the current scheme, will come into place from 1st April 2021 and run until March 2023 as planned. There are no plans for further extensions at this stage. The new scheme introduces property price caps and is restricted to first-time buyers only, supporting house-hunters onto the housing ladder. As a developer based within the South West, the pricing cap level is set at £349,000. across the region.
If you qualify for the Forces Help to Buy scheme, this can also be used in conjunction with the Help to Buy: Equity Loan. The combined use of both schemes presents a great opportunity for armed forces personnel to buy their first new home or move to another with a reduced mortgage.
