What is Home Reach Shared Ownership?
Buying a home outright isn’t always easy – that’s where Home Reach comes in.
The scheme lets you buy a share of your new home (between 50% and 75%) and pay a low monthly rent on the remaining share. The share you don’t own is held by Heylo Housing, who act as your landlord and grant you a lease.
Over time, you can buy more shares in your home through a process called “staircasing” – giving you the chance to increase your ownership when it suits you, right up to 100%.
Unlike renting, you’ll have the freedom to decorate, make improvements, and even keep pets. It’s a truly flexible way to get on the property ladder.

Who can apply?
To be eligible for a Home Reach property at Porthreach, your household income must not exceed £80,000, you’ll need at least a 5% deposit of the share you’re buying and the home must be your main residence. Buyers will also need to meet the Local Connection criteria set by the Council, which can include living, working or having close family ties in Carbis Bay.
